Manfredi Beninati (Palermo, 11 January 1970) is an Italian artist and librarian primarily working with painting, drawing, sculpture and installation.
He has briefly studied law before switching to film studies while working in Italian productions as runner or assistant director. He has only accidentally become an artist as a consequence of a bet in january 2000. Since than he has gained international attention with solo shows throughout the Americas, Europe and Asia and participations in a number of museum exhibitions and biennales – notably Liverpool, Istanbul, Shanghai and Venice where he won the audience prize in 2005.
In 2012 he has decided to take a long sabbatical to dedicate his time and energy to a foundation and a libraryhe set up in his hometown with his mother Carla in the memory of his brother Flavio who had died aged 33 in 2006. Since 2018 Beninati has been working on self-produced film projects.
He currently lives and works in Palermo and Los Angeles.
